About Us

Welcome to American Health Alliance

American Health Alliance is one of 106 new Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) accepted by Medicare in January 2013, ensuring as many as 4 million Medicare Fee-for-Service beneficiaries across the United States now have access to high-quality, coordinated care. Physicians and healthcare providers from 12 local primary care and family medicine practices have joined together to form American Health Alliance in order to work together to provide higher-quality care to their beneficiaries attributed to the ACO (ACO Beneficiaries). The goal is to bring greater quality and ease to ACO Beneficiaries across the healthcare continuum. Accountable care is designed to assist physicians whose ACO Beneficiaries are suffering from chronic illnesses, as well as sharing of test results, avoiding duplication of services and providing hospital-to-home care coordination. Together they deliver quality care to more than 6,000 Medicare ACO Beneficiaries in the north central Florida region.

Participation in Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) does not affect ACO Beneficiaries existing benefit coverage or the ability to choose their doctor. There is no cost to the patient and Accountable Care Organizations are not HMOs or IPAs. Physicians who have been selected to participate in ACOs benefit from greater access to capital to invest in staff, electronic health record systems, or other infrastructure required to improve care coordination. As part of the requirements for participation in the program Accountable Care Organizations must meet very stringent requirements related to quality standards. The goal of the program is to ensure that savings are achieved through improving care coordination and providing care that is appropriate, safe and timely. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has established 33 quality measures on care coordination and patient safety, appropriate use of preventative health services, improved care for at-risk populations, and patient and caregiver experience of care.

As a way to ensure a successful launch, American Health Alliance has enlisted the services of Tampa, FL-based AaNeel. AaNeel offers healthcare providers the ability to maintain independence and control while providing higher quality coordinated care, improved population health management, greater practice efficiency and increased operating margins. They do this through cutting-edge proprietary technology, an integrated end-to-end service model unique in the industry and a patient-centered culture.
